French law stipulates that only the French text of our terms and conditions is legally binding. Below is a translation of the French text.
General Terms and Conditions
Article 1 – Application
The general terms and conditions apply to every stay at Chambres d'hôtes La Joyeuse, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing and signed by the owner.
Article 2 – Duration of Stay
The stay at Chambres d'hôtes La Joyeuse can only be for tourist purposes, with a limited duration. Guests cannot claim any right to prolong their stay under any circumstances.
Article 3 – Reservation
The reservation is only valid once the guest has made the payment. The prices for the Chambres d'hôtes include breakfast and coffee/tea. De prijzen voor de chambres d’hôtes zijn inclusief ontbijt en koffie/thee.
Article 4 – Rates
The rates as listed on the La Joyeuse website are the applicable rates.
Article 5 – Balance
Meals, drinks, etc., are settled on the morning of departure. Payment by card is not available at Chambres d'hôtes La Joyeuse. Payment can be made in cash, by direct bank transfer, or by French cheque.
Article 6 – Cancellation by the Guest
Any cancellation must be communicated in writing or via email. The following charges apply:
- Cancellation up to 30 days before arrival: the payment will be fully refunded to the guest.
- Cancellation between 30 and 15 days before arrival: 50% of the payment will be refunded to the guest.
- Cancellation less than 15 days before arrival: no refund will be provided.
If the guest is not present by 7:00 PM on the day of arrival without prior notice, the reservation will be forfeited.
No refund will be issued for a shorter stay than reserved.
Article 7 – Cancellation by the Owner
If, due to exceptional circumstances, we are obligated to cancel the stay, the guest will be immediately notified by phone, in writing, or via email. Any amounts previously paid by the guest will be promptly refunded.
Article 8 – Arrival and Departure
On the day of arrival, we welcome guests between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. For arrivals after 7:00 PM, guests are kindly requested to contact us in advance regarding the possible table d'hôtes on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, guests can use the room until 10:30 AM.
Article 9 – Residence Tax
The residence tax (taxe de séjour) is a local tourist tax that must be paid by the guest to us. The owner is obligated to remit the tourist tax to the French government.
Article 10 – Use of Chambres d'hôtes
Guests are expected to maintain peace and use the facilities, buildings, guest accommodation, their own guest room, and furniture exclusively for their intended purposes. The guest is required to leave the room in good condition.
Article 11 – Serene Environment
We expect guests to consider other guests in the Chambres d'hôtes, neighbors, and the surroundings.
Article 12 – No Smoking
Smoking is not allowed inside the house and guest rooms. Smoking on the terrace is permitted after consulting with the owner, provided it does not disturb other guests.
Article 13 – Beverages and Food
We comply with French alcohol legislation for Chambres d'hôtes with a restaurant license. No alcohol is served to minors under 18 years old. Furthermore, it is not allowed to consume personal (alcoholic) drinks and food in the dining room, guest rooms, and our outdoor areas. In the dining room, guests have access to a refrigerator with various drinks (for a fee).
Article 14 – Registration
In accordance with French law, we are obliged to register all individuals with a nationality other than French. Guests are requested to complete a form with personal information and a signature. We do not provide data to third parties.
